Our first volunteer trip of 2025 is a special visit to Royal Hospital Chelsea, the home of the Chelsea Pensioners!
The complimentary private guided tour will take place on Friday 4 April at 11.00. We will meet at 10.40 in the Soane Stable Yard. The closest entrance for this is Chelsea Gate, outside the Royal Chelsea Hospital here. The address is Royal Hospital Road, London, SW3 4SR and you can find more information on the ‘plan your visit’ website here.
The Royal Hospital is a Grade I and II listed site, a beautiful architectural legacy left by Charles II and Sir Christopher Wren. The tour takes groups across the length of the site to visit its main attractions including The Great Hall, Chapel and Figure Court. The tour of the RHC site lasts 90 minutes.
After the tour, RHC provides us with a room to get together and meet with some of the RHC team. You will be able to purchase refreshments from the cafe. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to view the recently refurbished Soane Stable Yard, which now houses the Chelsea Pensioners Museum, a Cafe by Heidi Bakery, a shop and post office, an activity room and the Veterans Outreach Centre. For more information, please feel fee to have a look here.
We look forward to seeing many of you there!
